WoNiMS is organizing a three day (3-5 November, 2023) conference with the purpose of bringing together women mathematicians, women students, college and university teachers, and novice researchers working at the frontiers of mathematics to interact and exchange mathematical ideas and share their experiences with their colleagues, both in groups or individually. Women in Mathematical Sciences (WoNiMS) in collaboration with Central Department of Mathematics and Department of Mathematics and Statistics, Padmakanya Campus took place at the Central Department of Mathematics Tribhuvan University (TU), Kathmandu, Nepal, on October 12-15, 2017. Out of 70 participants, there were 59 women mathematicians from 12 countries including Nepal, Bangladesh, Canada, France, India, Indonesia. Symposium for South Asian Women in Mathematics (SSAWM-2017) initiated by Women of Nepal, Italy, Japan, Korea, Pakistan, Philippines, USA and 9 undergrad students of Tri-Chandra and Padmakanya Campuses of TU. The symposium made an effort to create a valuable experience for the participants during four days. It concentrated on different aspects of different topics each day and made sure even the academic lectures had a component related to women in mathematics. There were two public speeches, 32 research talks and 8 poster presentations in applied math, Algebra, Number theory and Math Education, four panel discussions on Women in math, Math education and outreach, Research success and path to PhD, and Mathematical Organizations and two break out sessions in two different topics related to women in math and Research and teaching: a professional development.

The Women of Nepal in Mathematical Sciences (WoNiMS) and the Nepal Mathematical Center (NMC), in collaboration with Viswa Niketan S.S., will jointly organize Outreach Program VII. The program aims to motivate school students to explore the importance of mathematics and its wide range of opportunities.

International Day of Women & Girls in Science 2026

Women of Nepal in Mathematical Sciences is organizing a 4th outreach program for Grades 8.9 students at Shree Padma Secondary School, Bhaktapur. It will be a sharing session to discuss kids learning motivation and teachers mathematical expertise. This outreach program aims to restore and improve students mathematical knowledge, develop deeper relationships between students and the mathematics they learn, promote mathematics to girls students, and identify their mathematical talents so that they can be upgraded for higher education in mathematics.

Two Separate meetings of the गोमा पोखरेल स्मृति अक्षय कोष (GPSAK) Steering Committee (in-person) with Prof. Dr. Narayan Pahari on मंसिर २, २०८२ and the WoNiMS Executive Committee (virtual) on मंसिर १४, २०८२ were held to finalize the GPS Scholarship Scheme procedure for undergraduate women students and announced for Application call for "Goma Smriti Scholarship-2082" for BA/BSc/BEd Girls students.

15th of July (मङ्गलबार, ३१ असार , २०८२), WoNiMS organized its fifth outreach program including Q/A session with School students of grade 8 -10 at Medha Secondary School, Bhaktapur. It was an inspiring day filled with learning, inspiration, and the magic of mathematics. The program was inaugurated by Head Teacher, Mr. Ram Hada. WoNiMS's Life members Dr. Sharmila Shrestha and Dr. Gauri Bhuju delivered their motivational talk on "Math Magic: Your Key to Success”. Grade 9 students Memory Khadka and Panjum Phombo shared their First-hand mathematics learning experience.

On the occasion of the May 12 Initiative, WoNiMS is going to organize a one-and-a-half-day WoNiMS Meet and Greet Program, which is a joyous chance for the mathematical community to encourage an inclusive, friendly, and open work environment for everyone worldwide and to inspire women everywhere to celebrate their achievements in mathematics. WoNiMS has also been celebrating this day every year since 2019.
